In a world where emotions are manifest as colorful, living entities, players assume the role of Alex, a 'Heart Merchant' who specializes in trading and collecting hearts—essentially the essence of people's feelings. When a catastrophic event causes hearts to scatter throughout the city, Alex must navigate emotional turmoil and a web of deceit to recover them. Each heart represents a different person's deepest emotions—fear, joy, anger, and love—and impacts the player's journey depending on who they choose to return them to.
